Friday Photo Shoot Out: Domesticated Animals

Here's one.
Another one.
And a third one. Those kinds of domestic animals are just all over my house.
Just out of town there are plenty of domestic animals hanging around in the fields.

Scottish cows with a view of the sea.
A good old Auvergnat bovine.
Lots of bovines. People around here love pork products too, but somehow you never see pigs around.
A dovecote. There are no longer pigeons in these little huts, though that used to be the ordinary way of keeping them. In parts of the country there's something of a competition to have the cutest and most well-preserved dovecotes. There's even a guide to them!
.
I might miss next week's Shoot Out because of work, but I'll try. Might post on Thursday. And I apologise if I'm not able to get around to all of the Shooters' posts today (or in fact for the next month!): it's just crazy time here. 6 trips to Paris in 4 weeks, plus teaching whenever I'm not away...
Ciao!

Sorry that to you your life seems hectic to me it sounds useful and full - a matter of word usage - I have a photo of a scottish cow and it is long haired and shaggy - this one seems to be what us Americans call an English hepherd (?) There is also a lot of pork on the menus here but never saw one wallowing.... I think they are all raised in steril barns now - too bad cause they had a better taste when they layed in the mud all day. have a great week.

It is a useful life, Ginger, and an exciting one. But I must be getting old. I get tired. The problem is that all this activity is not spread out evenly over the year, but bunched up into periods of frenzy.

What spoiled and lazy cats you have. I decided to use this week's assignment to feature our spoiled and lazy bums.

I love the cattle/hay photo. Excellent composition and color. The closeup is great, too.

Don't work too hard. I know what that is like. I have been on vacation for two weeks. Tomorrow, I dust off my cameras and head back to work.

Great post of your kitties in various hilarious poses! The bovine shots look old world to me; maybe its the long horns and pretty soft colors. The dovecote is positively adorable and it is good to know that people value them and keep them in shape. Yay for that!
Take a few minutes to put your feet up this week.

Take pics in Paris if you have a chance! Love the bovine with the tongue out. And I'd gladly take a view of the sea.

Safe travels

Nice pics! The Auvergnat bovine is very regal looking. And the cats, caught in compromising poses! Very cool.

Your cats really have personality, so much fun. I really love the shot of the horses. They are beautiful. I've never heard of a dovecote either but it was quite interesting to learn about it. Your photos are all wonderful.

What is it about cats and the positions they assume...I think they do yoga 24 hours a day. And how do you pronounce Auvergnat?

Those beautiful horses on the hill side look massive!

And I love all the domestic animals that hang around your place!

Enjoy Paris. It's been 40 years since I was last there.

I really enjoyed your post today. The picture of the horses looks like a painting. Ahh, the French countryside! The dovecote was beautiful too. It was creative of you to think of it. Well done!

The horn of the Auvergnat bovine is so unusual. What about that hut, isn't it great to go to a different place to take photos?

nope, no way, no pictures of Paris. Why do people think Paris is so fabulous? There are many, many cities I prefer. Anyway, with meetings there both Friday and Monday, I'm taking advantage to explore a nearby city over the weekend: Tours. I promise plenty of pictures of Tours.

hello nanu, the cats and the dovecote - beautiful!!! i love watching cats when they aren't aware of being watched - or fake that they aren't aware - they are fascinating to me. impulsive, slow, fast, lithe, keen to the environment around them - the dovecote hearkens back to a time long past but still present in the soft bricks. have a peaceful day. steven
