Friday Photo Shoot Out: Relaxation

Relaxation.

I'm not really a relaxation person. I like to be doing stuff, and although some of my staff think I'm crazy for this, working at the lab, doing routine benchwork of the likes the techs do all week long, is something I find relaxing. I do. Pipetting hundreds of samples and transferring them from one machine to another is a mental vacation for me. The hands work, the mind wanders. It's a welcome change from my usual work, which involves sitting in my office reading papers and checking data and writing reports.

I do relax at home in the evenings. Usually I knit or work sudokus while watching an hour or two of tv. Very photogenic. Sometimes I spend time in the garden, my oft-photographed garden, watering the veg and the flowers, pulling weeds (yes, really, there are just so many it's hard to appreciate that there are fewer than there might be), picking what's ripe, chasing the cats, and a new activity: mowing the lawn.

And, every once in a while near the end of a weekend afternoon, I pour a glass of cold Chardonnay and take a good book out to the garden.

I do suduku, but I do at it a low level. My family enjoys a competition, dad and kids. My husband likes to do at least one before he will go to bed. That, he says is relaxation.

What about coming to New Zealand for that glass of chardonnay? I don't drink much, but who do says NZ grapes are very good.

Cheers,

Ann:)

p/s have a relaxing weekend

Love that chair...I could relax just LOOKING at it!

I can tell you don't relax alot...even when you pour the chardonnay, you get up off the chair, grab your camera and take a picture of it!

A wonderful picture!

I cannot relax with suduku... I finding numbers irritating :-) I prefer the variety puzzles, but sometimes I do the word seeks... especially when I don't have much of a mind to do the other :-)

I agree that work can be very relaxing... especially gardening. When I worked my favorite chore was doing the store ordering.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and commenting.

Have a great weekend!

Ann - I would LOVE to come relax in New Zealand with a whole array of Chardonnays to taste!

I do relax, Mark, I do. I took that picture for the Outdoor Food Friday, and then lost it in my camera. So this week I didn't take any photos at all. And you should see me lounging on the couch not reading reports. The very image of laziness. OK. Relaxation and laziness are not the same thing. Must remember that.

A note on Sudoku: me too I don't like the numbers. Sometimes I turn the page upside down to make it harder. Or sideways, but that gets really hard. Does anybody know of a suduku generator that will put symbols other than numbers in the squares?

Jama and all of you - any time you're in France go ahead & give me a call. The guestroom awaits.

Despite today's post on my blog, I'm more of a doer when it comes to relaxation as well.

I enjoy sitting and doing nothing--but only for about 1/2hour then it starts to drive me crazy.

Gardening can be a great outlet for excess energy. Enjoyed your thoughts as much as your pictures today.

I can see how "Pipetting hundreds of samples" can become a meditation of sorts. Love the photo and that chair is inviting!

A glass of wine in the garden is one of my favorite ways to read a book, too :)

Great looking chair - I can imagine relaxing.

Your chair looks very relaxing and empty. I find I am most relaxed when I am puttering. I love to putter. I like a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Have a lovely, relaxing week! I enjoyed your post!

I love this photo. I like the artsy touches with the wine glass. You may not think you are a person who relaxes but you have the right ideas!

It is hard to imagine you as some laid-back beach bunny or slacker. It just doesn't fit!

But I'm glad you put your feet up every now and then!

beautiful!

Lovely shot! I find gardening and mowing the lawn relaxing but not half as good as sitting in a comfy chair with a glass of wine when it is all done!

My relaxing is not the beach. I do like to walk along the water but only when no one else is there. I love to read and to cook, and to blog and to go to the gym, sitting doing nothing is NEVER my first choice for relaxation.... good blog.

Sometimes, one photo says it all. Ahhhhh.

But where is my chair and glass of wine?

I love your garden chair! And I too enjoy sudoku.
