Friday Shoot Out: Signs

This week's My Town Shoot Out : Interesting or Amusing Signs.

Hmmm.

Hmmm.

Well, um, my town seems to have pretty dull signage.

So I've decided to cheat! These signs are from my recent trip to La Tour du Pin. That's still in France, which is kind of a town if you compare it to the whole universe. I liked the fish for fishing in a nearby lake, especially since it turns in the wind.

Then this was an interesting juxtaposition. With the lettering and colors being so similar you could take the Veterinary office and the restaurant as one thing, leading twisted minds to wonder if the one would profit from the unfortunate outcomes of the other. No, I didn't eat there. Nor, fortunately, did my rabbit fall ill. And the rat, well, rats can take it, they don't go to the vet; the restaurant, though, it took some effort to keep him out of there. (I was walking to school one day in Minneapolis and saw a rat running for it's life away from Arby's... Having eaten at Arby's once, I can understand that.)And lastly this one, borrowed from the post at Pink Rabbit Abroad. Half an hour's hike to the Pissoire, guys, hope you can hold it!

yes, Doreen, I'm shamelessly trying to get people to read Pink Rabbit Abroad - the Pissoire joke and the rat are explained therein.

Ah, there's nothing like a good lunch at the Veterinary office.

Now what kind of meat was that again?

The fish sign is too funny :) We always used to joke in college that you never saw any stray dogs or cats around the Chinese restarant near the bars...gross, yes, but that was some of the best Sesame chicken (or cat) that I've ever had! ;)

Very amusing signs..great eye on catching the similarities in the blue sign. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a message.

The restaurant/vet pic could work well for next week's assignment too!

yes good signs, and I don't mind if you wnet a field a bit, the essance of your town is there. I do find it a challenge to read the signs here in Portuguese, but (probably a personal shortcoming) I don't find much humor in them.

Yeah, I often wonder why people eat at restaurants next to taxidermists too.

I love that last one. :)

My mind is twisted, warped. The latest big discussion topic is the Polynesian man who killed and cooked his pet dog. This is such a BIG issue, that dog lovers want a law to stop them.

So your Vet and the restaurant side by side????

Wonderful work with the topic. It made me smile :-) Sometimes businesses need to pay attention to their signage.

Your take on the Veterinary office was funny. thanks!

Love the rat & the fish, and your twisted sense of humor about the vet & the restaurant!

Love the turning fish. Looks like something you would see in Georgia. A folk art kind of thing.

I can't read the rat sign - that is a rat, isn't it? That one is adorable.

What do your cats think about the rat?

OK I don't think anyone is going to kick you out of this meme for cheating. The signs are great. Love the fish!

Enjoyed those. And the big yellow zinnia - it is a zinnia, isn't it? That is a sign of summer for certain.

I don't know, Si. My expertise in botany goes about as far as 'big yellow flower'. The stalks are about 6 feet tall, but the petal structure does remind me of short-plant flowers from my grandmother's garden. Giant Scrawny Zinnia, perhaps?

My cats are not fooled, Patty. They know Ikea plush toys when they see them. (It would be much more fun if they didn't!)
