Friday Photo Shoot Out: Circles

I don't have many photos for you today, sorry.
These are fortuitous images from my recent trip to Strasbourg.

Today's theme was chosen by Kerry. Kerry’s post at Ed and Reub has some rings in the header photo that remind me exactly of diving rings from learning to swim. OK, except for being linked.
These weighted, colored, rings were diabolical instruments of torture. The swim instructor would throw them into the deep end, and you had to go get them. And you had to get them faster than your neighbor. And you had to keep trying for the really deep one, with the whole class wishing you’d get on with it already.

I hate diving. No matter what, I get sinuses full of water. I get sinuses full of water just doing flip turns. Also, I don’t swim very fast. I could swim all day, just not fast. So the diving ring thing was right up there in the top three of why I didn’t like swim lessons. Just thought I'd share!

Anyway, for the rest of the Shootout, click here. Have a good weekend!

Love the truck, and reminds me of a news report I saw once, when woman wanted to show her neighbors she could paint her house any way she wanted, so she did cowhide patterns...I know that is off base, but I would so make everything I owned artist like this, but we know many people like a normalcy to what we do...so I take it out on my FSO blogs, lol!

Love it, I love what you have done and now want to see the Zebra post!

your french post a comment is different this morning and since I haven't had my first cup of coffee it was an additional challenge....
I love the photo of what looks like a giant spring - what is that?
my son was also a slow swimmer but could (can? now that he is 40) so the swim team put him on the 500 metre - that ones that you swim like 20 laps.... he was always swimming alone the last 5 or 6 laps was exruciating for everyone.
great FSO.

Love the circular eyes in your header. And the photos. I remember kind of liking the diving ring thing...but I also loved being underwater. Hyperventilating until I was dizzy so I could stay under for a long time. Other kids thought it was neat. Later it used to upset my wife. I wonder if it was a metaphor for something.

Ginger - it's a chute for debris from the work they're doing on a building. Usually there's a big dumpster under it, but not that day.
Mark - I do like being underwater now, though in a different way. In the "kid's" pool (where nobody is doing laps) I like to dive to the bottom of the deep-ish end and just stay there, feeling the pressure and listening to my pulse in my head. Very zen. This activity, however, is forbidden because the lifeguards will think you're drowned.

I like that second picture, can see circle after circle!

Sometimes fortuitous is synonymous with inspired, Nancy. Just proves you can find circles where every you look.

I enjoyed the first photo of the hanging pipes.

Love the paint job on that truck! Your picture of the garbage chute is quite interesting. I must admit it took me a second to fully grasp what it was! It's got a really neat perspective to it.

I hate diving too! But Reub's dog toy would be perfect for it, I figure, b/c the rings are connected. Three divers could go under all at once and the fastest one could get the ring(s) and the two slacker-divers could just grab on for the ride back up.

Well anyway. Your circles are terrific. If I had been in Strasbourg the last thing on my mind would have been FSO Circles, so I'm very impressed with what you found. That garbage shoot makes a great shot. (But doesn't stuff fall out before it hits the bottom?) Have a great weekend!

The truck is the one that stood out in my mind too. I like this theme, even though at first I though too many to make a choice. Good job.

You've proved you don't need a lot of shots to make a great post. I love the circles in the garbage shoot. You were very different to me as a child, I think I was half fish!

I love photos with repeating shapes in them - these are very pleasing to me and I love the cat's eyes at the top.

That camper van, what are they advertising for? My first instinct was a laundrymat.

I turned out quite fishy too, Pauline - it was the lessons that were hell!

The van isn't advertising anything; it's just decorated, Ann.

The debris chute works pretty well, Kerry. You can't tell from this angle, but it's made of overlapping cone sections a foot or two tall.

I take a _lot_ of pictures wherever I go, and like we've all noticed this week, the world is full of them. These two shots I would have taken anyway.

Loved your photos. Your banner photo of the cat eyes is very striking! Your childhood memory of diving rings is very vivid--seems like it was torturous for you.

Fortuitous images indeed! Fabulous shots.

Cat's eyes made me jump on first arriving, however...
