Aha....

I recently gained a new understanding of that old chestnut: revenge is a dish best served cold.
I used to think it meant that revenge was indeed more satisfying once you'd had the chance to mull it over and plan and prepare.
That isn't what it means at all.
When your revenge is good and cold, all the way to dead cold, you just don't want it any more. You bring it out of the fridge, and think, why on earth am I keeping this? In the bin with it.
So you toss it away.
Thanks, Dan.
